Little Libraries

Waldo Reads! Little Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange. Each Little Library is unique, often with whimsical and eye-catching features, but most begin as a small, free standing wooden box filled with books. Anyone may take a book or leave a book to share.

The Waldo Reads! Little Library project is an initiative of Literacy Volunteers of Waldo County. The aim of this project is to:

  • Stimulate and support reading, especially for those who find it difficult to access a library or who do not have the financial resources to buy books;

  • Encourage people of all ages and walks of life to enter the wondrous world of knowledge, learning, and adventure;

  • Bring “literacy to the streets” to provide an appealing, 24-hours-a-day easy access to a broad constituency;

  • Convey an attractive, artful message that our community is one that cares about literacy for all.
